Sponsorships aren't just about funding—they're about creating mutually beneficial relationships that strengthen the entire maritime community. As Sponsorship Co-Chair, you'll serve as the bridge between YoungShip Texas and the companies that support our mission. You'll identify potential partners, communicate the value of sponsorship, and ensure sponsors receive meaningful ROI through visibility, networking access, and engagement with Houston's maritime professionals. This role is ideal for relationship-builders who want direct exposure to decision-makers and C-suite executives across the industry.

Core Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure sponsors; maintain a database of current and prospective corporate partners.

  • Collaborate with the President and Event Director to determine event scope and offer matching sponsorship levels.

  • Clearly communicate sponsor benefits, including digital media visibility and exclusive network access, to decision-makers.

  • Work with the Treasurer on invoicing and financial tracking.

  • Partner with Marketing Co-Chairs for brand placement on social media and event collateral.

  • Coordinate with Events Director to deliver on-site sponsorship perks ( speaking slots, event design/decor, etc.).

  • Act as the primary point of contact during events, introducing sponsor representatives to industry leaders and providing post-event impact reports.

  • Keep the President consistently informed on negotiation status and partnership goals; provide updates to the Board during monthly meetings. 

  • Collaborate with the Board to match sponsorship tiers with the yearly event calendar and budget needs.

  • Reach out to the Sponsorship Advisor as needed for industry-specific insights, lead identification, and guidance on high-level opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Comfortable discussing financial figures and securing sponsorships for events.

  • Strong desire to build a professional rolodex within the maritime sector.

  • Ability to work seamlessly across different Board committees.

  • High-level verbal and written skills for corporate outreach.

Time Commitment

  • Board Meetings: 1 – 1.5 hours, and highly encouraged

  • Sponsor Outreach & Follow-up: 2 – 3 hours

  • Event Coordination: 2 – 3 hours (varies by event scale)

  • Team Syncs & Ad-hoc: ~30-50 mins
