Marketing Co-Chair
YoungShip Texas is more than events—it's a community, a movement, and a platform for the next generation of maritime leaders. As Marketing Co-Chair, you'll shape how that story is told. From crafting social media content to producing video interviews with industry leaders, you'll own the brand narrative and drive engagement across all channels. This role offers creative freedom, direct exposure to senior maritime executives, and the opportunity to build a portfolio of work that demonstrates real impact in a professional setting.

Core Responsibilities

Own the full content lifecycle – ideation, design (Canva), and scheduling – across YS Texas’s social media platforms (LinkedIn & Instagram), and deploy quarterly newsletters via social media, Mailchimp/HubSpot to ensure consistent member engagement.

Maintain a comprehensive content calendar and deploy quarterly newsletters to drive member engagement.

Attend ~80% of events to capture high-quality photo/video; produce engaging Reels and conduct short interviews with industry leaders.

Coordinate with the Sponsorship Committee to ensure event flyers and social media creatives are published in sync; work with the Events Director to provide on-site flyers for event days.

Manage Marketing Associates by providing creative briefs and delegating tasks; sync with the Digital Systems Specialist (Committee Member) by providing the assets (copy, links, photos) needed for website updates.

Maintain direct alignment with the Vice President to keep them posted on marketing operations, campaign progress, and metrics.

Reach out to the Marketing Advisor as needed for guidance on branding trends and high-level visibility opportunities.

Proactively flag hurdles, such as software needs, budget requests, or access issues, to leadership during monthly board meetings.
Qualifications & Skills

Background in Marketing/Communications; proficient in Canva and email marketing tools (Mailchimp/HubSpot).

Comfortable with video editing and social media monitoring.

Ability to establish clear "primaries" with your Co-Chair to ensure a streamlined, professional workflow.

Ability to work seamlessly across different Board committees.

High-level verbal and written skills for corporate outreach.
